Pinterest: Niche
Pinterest is a funky social media platform. This platform allows users to create boards of things a user likes, finds interesting, or just want to explore later. The entire platform has become a Do-it-yourself, DIY, projects ranging from cooking recipes, baking, home improvement projects, or ideas used in ways not previously thought about. One example is using binder clips to hold phone chargers or headphones so they do not get tangled up either when storing the charger or when using the charger. Other projects that I have seen are ways to sort your clothes, shoes, ideas for multipurpose equipment, tidy wise to hide cables for televisions, speakers, or other cables, intriguing ways on how to light up a room using rope lights. This platform is not simple to figure out and provides a challenge to the individual using this interface. Pinterest knows the audience it is trying to reach and knows the users they are connecting with. The platform is nor like facebook, and is unique in the boards users create, pins for their collection, or the ability to view other boards. This platform provides a unique experience for each of its users and has developed its niche user.
