The Great Whitmore Bake Off
Every year our family gets together the weekend before Christmas and make Christmas desserts like cookies, Oreo truffles, and buckeyes. This has been a family tradition for years. Grandparents from my Dad’s side come down for the day and we eat lunch and then the baking begins. Our family usually splits up into making the treats and in the end decorate the simple sugar cookie cutouts that were cut out earlier with frosting and sprinkles. This day is full of sugar and usually results in our family napping afterward from eating too many sweets. This day has always been one of my favorite holiday traditions our family has created and continues even when we have grown and had us come together each year and will be a tradition I would like to continue into the future with my kids. Using this tradition provides us with hundreds of cookies to eat over the next few days and picking out the best cookies and treats for Santa to eat during his visit to our house on Christmas Eve. Traditions like this keep our family close and provide a simple memory for each of us to look back on and cherish.
