Social Media Principles in review
Social Media Principles is an interesting course because when
dealing with social media it deals with everything that happens. New platforms
that become popular like Tik Tok, updated ways that platforms get used,
Instagram stories, Snapchat facetime calls, companies on Twitter roasting each
other, etc. The course showed us that this is an industry that is constantly
evolving and has set a pace to never slow down. We have seen the downfall of
certain social media platforms like MySpace, or even AOL’s Instant Messaging.
In 2019 Myspace has steadily made a comeback for individuals who are avoiding
the clutter of Facebook and use the platform to stay connected with their
friends. Social Media continues to develop and cannot be predicted to the
extent of what the next trend will be for the online communities. This class
provides a lot of work to be completed during the 16 weeks of classes. I was
unprepared just how much work would be needed to complete the course and have
dealt with the amount of work in the worst ways. Instead of turning things in
late, or asking questions, writing them down, or communicating with my
classmates, I had just decided to not submit any work. This strategy was a poor
decision because of how this affected my work ethic, I am currently making sure
I can do anything and everything to at least earn a passing grade, if at all
possible. You will be seeing a lot of blog posts soon, over the next few hours,
and through tomorrow so do not be alarmed as to why so many have been posted.
With the class taking so much work I would like to suggest adjusting due dates to
midnight rather than noon. Most of the assignments I submitted were at midnight
the day they were due, making the assignments late by 12 hours. I felt guilty
each time this happened and could not find an effective way to manage the work
for the class to ensure my personal success for the course.
