Star Wars Episode IX

With the latest Star Wars film being released this past week I had a lot of speculation as to if I would enjoy it. After Disney announced that they were creating new Star Wars films I was excited. When Episode VII: The Force Awakens was released I went to the premiere showing and I was disappointed due to my hopes being too high. Next, when Episode VIII: The Last Jedi came out I went into the film with no expectations, my hopes for the film were not high and even after the movie I was majorly upset and disappointed. The film for me lacked plausibility and logic within the Star Wars franchise universe that had already been previously developed with the original trilogy, the Prequels, and all the animated TV shows, movies, and even books that came out. With Episode IX coming out I was not ready to be disappointed again but being the fan I am, I still had to see how the producers and writers closed this trilogy out. Without giving away any spoilers to the film I was very impressed with ho...

Spotify Wrapped

Each year Spotify releases a Spotify wrapped for its users. This indicates a summary of what each user has listened to over the past year. For the 2019 Spotify wrapped this included data from 2015 when I first started using Spotify. The stats that the company showed contain how many minutes of music someone listened to over the year, the top five to ten songs a user streamed over the past year. With the decade ending Spotify has compiled and consolidated all data into a top song category for that year and a top artist of the year. The data itself is really cool to look at and presented in a fun manner. Looking into the ethical and legal side of this, Spotify has collected data ever since their users join. When accepting the terms and conditions to the platform this allows the company to collect this data, build playlists around the music you listen to, promote artists around your style and even promote concert tickets for artists sharing their music on this platform. The year wrapped f...

The Great Whitmore Bake Off

Every year our family gets together the weekend before Christmas and make Christmas desserts like cookies, Oreo truffles, and buckeyes. This has been a family tradition for years. Grandparents from my Dad’s side come down for the day and we eat lunch and then the baking begins. Our family usually splits up into making the treats and in the end decorate the simple sugar cookie cutouts that were cut out earlier with frosting and sprinkles. This day is full of sugar and usually results in our family napping afterward from eating too many sweets. This day has always been one of my favorite holiday traditions our family has created and continues even when we have grown and had us come together each year and will be a tradition I would like to continue into the future with my kids. Using this tradition provides us with hundreds of cookies to eat over the next few days and picking out the best cookies and treats for Santa to eat during his visit to our house on Christmas Eve. Traditions like ...

New Year, New Me?

With the New Year approaching I have already been asked what some of my New Year Resolutions are. After thinking about this I decided that I want to focus on five things. The first one is a classic, develop a plan to have a workout routine or schedule. When I work out, I feel better about myself, find time to focus on tasks that need to be completed, promote a healthier lifestyle, and keeps me in shape. With the Winter months among us, it is difficult and uncomfortable to go outside for a twenty-mile bike ride in the cold, snow, and icy conditions. The second resolution I have is working on my relationship with my family. I have struggled to keep my family a priority and want to focus on rebuilding our relationship. With building this relationship I am going to try and spend more time with them, be more open about aspects of my life including work, relationships, and any news I may hear. The third resolution is to realign my faith. Something I have continuously struggled with is my fai...

The Hunt Continues

Recently I have had two in-person interviews and a phone interview for potential full-time positions. The first position I interviewed for was with Coopertires as an Internal Controls Analyst. To get to an onsite interview at Coopertires I first went through two phone interviews. The initial phone interview was with recruiters for the company asking about specifics on my resume. The second phone interview was with the Chief Accounting Officer, CAO, this interview focused on what I saw in the position, what questions I had for the specific position, further details about Coopertires, and to get a personal feel for my voice and character. After each interview, I made sure to extend my gratitude for the opportunity which ended up leading to an official onsite interview. During the onsite interview, four employees from various roles in accounting came and conversed with me, they asked specific questions and allowed me to ask questions in return. In the end, it was stated that if I did not ...

Christmas

The church that I attend with my family has been going through a series focusing on the four Sundays of Advent. Each weekend they talk about the four candles within the Advent Wreath. The four Sundays represent Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. I have only been to two of the services. Today was focused on Love. We as an American culture tend to “love” a lot. I love to eat, I love dogs, I love a lot. The message stated that love is more than a feeling. While we may feel love, love is more of a verb. In acts of love, we tend to feel the emotion and are a result of putting love towards something. In these actions, he stated that we truly begin to love. The message allowed for new meaning to how to love someone or something. With the world being as chaotic and eccentric as it is, everyone could use a little bit of love. Whether that be paying it forward at the drive-through, a simple smile or hello to a stranger, or being patient while driving and letting that person over that already cut you of...

Social Media Principles in review

Social Media Principles is an interesting course because when dealing with social media it deals with everything that happens. New platforms that become popular like Tik Tok, updated ways that platforms get used, Instagram stories, Snapchat facetime calls, companies on Twitter roasting each other, etc. The course showed us that this is an industry that is constantly evolving and has set a pace to never slow down. We have seen the downfall of certain social media platforms like MySpace, or even AOL’s Instant Messaging. In 2019 Myspace has steadily made a comeback for individuals who are avoiding the clutter of Facebook and use the platform to stay connected with their friends. Social Media continues to develop and cannot be predicted to the extent of what the next trend will be for the online communities. This class provides a lot of work to be completed during the 16 weeks of classes. I was unprepared just how much work would be needed to complete the course and have dealt with the...

Blue Book, Big Book

Looking back through the second book we study in social media principles the book went into further detail compared to our little blue book. The little blue book was powerful and eluded to its audience, students and anyone associated with studying social media. For a deeper dive that is where the second book comes into play. The blue book is very introductory while the larger book provides more detail and to my understanding more than just a novice level of reading. The book really emphasized how to be ethical while using social media which I feel has been strayed away from in recent years. Investigating into how politicians and companies use each platform we can see the change through the years. With our technology advancing every year this provides the need for more ethics and legal implications around advertising for products, brands, or companies. Ethically looking at terms and conditions, tracking someone's smartphone, collecting cookies, listening and collecting data through ...

Capstone: Presenting

Wow, it's been a while. I have been very behind on this blog post. Life took over and my procrastination really set in. Senioritis hit real hard, instead of staying ahead in my classes I fell behind. I was in the deep end of an enormous pool. This procrastination resulted in me focusing solely on my group's capstone project. As that project wrapped up we spent more time together, in the Dicke building practicing our presentation, adding more information, and ultimately finally presenting to our client and professors within the Dicke College of Business. The presentation was scheduled to present for roughly twenty minutes and last approximately forty-five minutes total for questions and comments. Looking back. The presentation that day lasted for the twenty-minute time period and the following lasted for about an hour and ten minutes for questions and comments. The questions our group was faced with were challenging, difficult to answer, and rapidly decreased our confidence that...

Holiday Commercials

With the holiday season in full swing both Apple and Xfinity have created two emotional commercials. Apple’s commercial displays a family displaying three generations. The commercial displays the parents of the two girls giving them an iPad to keep them entertained. This happens numerous times throughout the commercial. During one scene the grandchildren find a tape from their Grandfather's wedding with their Grandmother who had passed away. With the girls getting to work and then displaying their gift to their entire family, it becomes a tear-jerker. The music playing throughout the commercial was previously used during the beginning of Disney Pixar’s movie Up. With the music and the display of family gathering around for the holidays got me emotional and made my eyes sweat. In comparison, the Xfinity commercial brings back a beloved character created by Steven Spielberg’s E.T. The commercial displays the character returning to Earth after an extended time being away. After learni...

Finals Are Coming...

Today I realized that I begin my Finals Week next week. In one of my classes, Strategic Management 4871. This course is designed to only be a ten-week course. With this course, the James F. Dicke College of Business comes our capstone projects. These projects work with Deloitte, Marathon Petroleum Company, Airstream, and Cardinal Health. Three weeks of the Strategic Management course were used to cover industry analysis for each company. The industry analysis is the first heavily graded portion of capstone within the college. Dr. Franquesa originally teaches us about this analysis he also grades this portion of the capstone project. Dr. Franquesa says that this is because it is his expertise, and the other professors would not understand. With this class ending in a week, it is beginning to hit me that my time as an undergrad is almost officially over and the next stage of my life is about to begin. In about a month I will hopefully be starting a new job. Even though I graduate in a mo...

Facebook Groups

In chapter 9  our book “Social Media for Strategic Communication” discusses shared media. Shared media involves interacting with others through a medium. Conversations usually begin through shared or linked content. Then groups may branch off from this comment. One group that I am actually apart of a group that is a fan base from a Canadian Television show called “Letterkenny.” This show focuses on three groups of people from Letterkenny, Canada. These specific groups are Farmers, Hicks, and Hockey Players. The show has acquired a fanbase across Canada and the United States. This group is called Letterkenny Degen memes. The group is dedicated to creating memes from quotes of the show or using scenes from the show. Recently the show released a new season. After about a week from the season is available on the Hulu streaming platform, the group on Facebook began discussing the season and dissected each part of each episode throughout the season. Groups like this allow for specific di...

Thanksgiving is Christmas' Shadow

With the holiday season quickly approaching it appears that Thanksgiving always gets the short end of the stick. With Christmas and the entire season of Winter, this holiday tends to be forgotten. Stores like Walmart, Target, Meijer, Hobby Lobby, Kroger put up Christmas decorations directly after Halloween. Fall decorations disappear after October 31, and immediately winter decorations get placed out. These decorations usually consist of Christmas trees, lights, nativity scenes, snowmen, snowflakes. All the colors change from bright reds, yellows, oranges, transitions to reds and greens . This gives Thanksgiving a very short period, specifically three days. The rule in my family has always been Thanksgiving before Christmas, in the house the Christmas season does not begin until Black Friday shopping begins. This has always been the case for our family because of downtown Cincinnati hosts a tree lighting to officially kick off the Christmas season. This has been a tradition in our ...

Protecting the House

Throughout the nine weeks of the National Football League’s 100th season, many of the sponsored commercials are using more and more professional football players. Personally, my favorite set of commercials is the Progressive insurance commercials starring Baker Mayfield. The company had paid for numerous commercials involving the Cleveland Browns starting Quarterback. One of the commercials involves Baker attempting to start up a simple, old, and raggedy push mower while a field maintenance team member offers Baker his motor. Another is Baker attempting to provide power to a blender somewhere in the stadium by randomly flipping switches in a power box. There is another where he is thanking everyone for coming to watch him play, then begin cleaning the stadium using a handheld vacuum, and one final one of him and his wife binge-watching a show on the big scoreboard at the stadium. The whole purpose of these commercials revolves about protecting “your” house. Being a part of the NFL, Nat...

Academics in November

School has officially become stressful. Currently, life is stressful, morale is low, grades are okay, and time is running out. At least that’s how this semester feels. Consistently this semester I have fallen behind in my classes to end up playing catch up in those classes. I have yet to be fully caught up in all my classes at the same time. I would like to think that at this point in my college academic career I would have prepared myself better for the semester and prioritized my schedule to stay ahead in all my classes and keep my grades to a higher point to what I am at right now. Going into this semester this was my intention and a goal of mine, then things ultimately changed. At the beginning of the year, I got myself off to a rocky start and have been battling with myself to achieve a better academic position for the end of my undergrad term. I can see a correlation with my school performance this semester to how I spent most of my weekends. Most weekends this semester I have s...

Audience Segmentation is Everywhere

In “Social Media for Strategic Communication” by Karen Freberg the author talks about audience segmentation. This is defined in the book as the process of categorizing people into certain groups based on specific criteria. Something interesting about this is that I see this every day and everywhere. Not only is this used on social media, but I can see this being used off of social media. I specifically see this in communication between students with each other and with students to faculty and staff. Personally, I have watched this within myself as well. I find myself adjusting my speech, to the specific audience I am targeting. When giving a speech to a group of classmates, I will be more keen to add jokes and be more unprepared for the speech. Whereas for my capstone presentation, or a final project presentation, I will be dressed for the audience, have practiced the speech numerous times before the presentation and overall be more prepared with minimal jokes. Audience Segmentation pl...

Pinterest: Niche

Pinterest is a funky social media platform. This platform allows users to create boards of things a user likes, finds interesting, or just want to explore later. The entire platform has become a Do-it-yourself, DIY, projects ranging from cooking recipes, baking, home improvement projects, or ideas used in ways not previously thought about. One example is using binder clips to hold phone chargers or headphones so they do not get tangled up either when storing the charger or when using the charger. Other projects that I have seen are ways to sort your clothes, shoes, ideas for multipurpose equipment, tidy wise to hide cables for televisions, speakers, or other cables, intriguing ways on how to light up a room using rope lights. This platform is not simple to figure out and provides a challenge to the individual using this interface. Pinterest knows the audience it is trying to reach and knows the users they are connecting with. The platform is nor like facebook, and is unique in the boar...

The Hunt

Continuing from yesterday, the job hunt has officially begun, with a position with Rowmark currently up in the air it is best for me to search for jobs within my preferred locations to work. These locations are the areas around Findlay, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago, and Columbus. I feel that a position anywhere in these cities will be the most beneficial for me. Any of the Metropolitan locations would push me outside of my comfort zone and push me to learn new things about each location. For example, each location has different traffic patterns, different atmospheres, new food, and much more. I am currently looking for positions revolving around Cost Accounting or Financial Analyst positions. Throughout my time at Rowmark, I have been able to identify my favorite parts about this internship, which included, comparing financial statements, completing budgets and projections for future months, identifying ways to become more efficient and auditing what money is being spent on inside or...

Capstone update Part 1

Well it's been a minute. Capstone has officially engulfed my life. Today my capstone group presented our initial presentation for our client. My group is working with the Darke County Visitors Bureau and looking for trends as to why the county is experiencing a decrease in overnight stays. This project has my group looking into all sorts of analytics from pings the county receives a day, to the specific businesses have within the county. This allows us to notice what is trending throughout the county, and what may be more likely to receive searches. Other research that I personally have done includes sifting through pages of data involving the lodging tax, or what is called a bed tax. A bed tax is when someone stays overnight within a specific county. This tax is added to the taxes already in play in order to provide revenue through not for profit organizations to assist in promoting the county. The County Visitors Bureau assists in driving consumers and visitors to the county. O...

Analytics

Analytics are the driving factor behind what makes companies, individuals, or groups successful on all Social Media platforms. Each platform has its own analytics that provide similar statistics, but pertain to the relevancy of the platform. On Twitter, anyone can view their analytics for their personal tweets. This portion of data shows the user can see “Impressions”, meaning how many users saw the tweet. Beneath this, another statistic displayed as “Total Interactions.” The user can view what counts as an interaction, this reveals total likes a tweet has, how many users opened the tweet, Profile clicks the tweet acquired, and the quantified amount of users retweeting this to their own timelines. These analytics are intriguing to me due to how numbers are shown when comparing tweets to the next tweet. When I tweet jokes, trends show that these acquire more attention and travel farther than a serious tweet about something I may have an opinion on. I used to assist in operating Phi Mu...

Halfway There

Each day I am learning that being an adult is stressful. With bills to pay every month, a credit score to maintain, jobs to apply for. While being an adult keeping healthy is tough. Today I finished work at 7:00 PM, leaving me until about 7:30 PM until I arrived back in Ada. I have learned that working means bringing work home, also called homework. Ohio Northern has prepared me for this life, but balancing this work and College life is no easy task. I was asked today how I am still managing my hectic schedules, and I had no answers. Yes, I have skipped classes due to me turning my alarm off in my sleep, but this is something that comes with being tired. I have started the process of applying for jobs, including for a new job at my current place of employment. As this next chapter in my life grows, being consistent and not backing down from each new challenge keeps me going. Being excited about the new stage has brought forth a new type of energy. This energy will be how I get through ...

LIVE at Homecoming

This past weekend I decided it would be cool to showcase how Ohio Northern, ONU, displays its Polar Bear pride. The majority of all the Greek life at ONU participate every year. The parade this year had James Lehr Kennedy be the Parade’s, Grand Marshall. Followed by Dan and Chris Dibiasio, and finally, Klondike bringing up the end of the corvettes. The ONU Marching Band followed Klondike playing the Hymn for Ohio Northern. The only other band that participated in the parade was from Perry High school. After witnessing and participating in other parades, this one is small to witness. Coming from Mason we had about three parades a year, one for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and sometimes a parade for our Heritage Festival. Being apart of a Parade in Mason was an experience like no other. Each parade route may have been exactly the same, but there was always a crowd of people along the entire parade route. Being in the homecoming parade at ONU provides a different experienc...

Social Media: Restricted or free-range?

Writing a social media policy for an organization, company, or group is a lot harder than it appears to be. As the author of this policy, you must be aware of how you write out what is involved in the policy. This could allow those following the policy to point out flaws in the document requiring constant updates and revisions to this policy. While it can be found that some organizations display a broad policy, others are found to be detail-oriented about what members or employees are allowed to do on each social media platform. I used to work for Cedar Fair at Kings Island, the stance that we had to take for our social media usage, especially when sharing about Kings Island was that we were not allowed to share any details of any upgrades a park may have. Whether that was a new ride development, a new event like Winterfest, or even if a ride would close after that year. We acted like we learned about each news just like our friends that did not work at the amusement park. Then for ano...

The only Episode Ever

After the one-hit-wonder of the podcast “Beer with the Boys” an executive decision was made to end the podcast, insert sad face. The podcast had planned to open the same every time, a review of beer with a friend, and then an interview of what that guest is involved in. For this episode, we discussed the Student Planning Committee (SPC). After discussion with our executive committee, it was best determined to ditch the podcast campaign due to the branding that would be associated for “Beer with the Boys” was not good for its two hosts for the show. This brand associated us with drinking and through a forecast of a focus group showed signs of the audience believing we were alcoholics, rather than enthusiast assisting in taste testing for the local buyer. The show was also attempting to shine a light on organizations who did a lot of behind the scenes work at Ohio Northern in providing students with experiences that are under-appreciated. The focus was to keep the podcast fun by includi...

Social Media background Checks

In Chapter 2 of “Social Media Strategic Communications,” the author talks about ethics. In the introduction, Karen Freberg talks about how our interactions across our social media platforms can get us into trouble with potential professional positions or with current positions in a job. What we post on these platforms still can limit being accepted for a position, or put an employee in hot water. When Social Media platforms were first created and gained the attraction of everyone this was definitely true. Today, this is not as consistent as stated. While someone's profiles may still be checked before an interview, or if a company has a social media policy. It is not seen to be enforced as frequently. This could be from the evolution of each platform and the continuous limitations as to who specifically interacts with each platform. This ties back to how we present ourselves. Even between Facebook and LinkedIn, there is a clear difference between the uses of both. LinkedIn states it...

Escaping Reality

Well, I am a few blog posts behind and will be attempting to release 6 posts this week. Two posts each day, maybe not two today. This week is looking very hectic now that I have done this to myself. Last week got away from me having me miss a lot of what was happening around me. This week and the next few I am looking to focus on my surrounding world, ensuring I take time to stop and look around. This past week I missed the ability to relax for a bit, creating more stress than needed. Recently it has been a struggle to find a routine to follow, that allows for a little bit of free time to take that step back. Allowing time each day to reflect, listen, and just be in the environment around me helps me center myself and assists in creating a peaceful moment. With today being the first day of fall I made a deal to a friend that we would go for bike rides every weekend until it finally got too cold to go outside. This creates at least two hours of time immersed in nature and the surroundin...

Chapter 11, I Missed Chapter 10 :(

In chapter 11 of the book “The Art of Social Media,” the text informs us about tips for using social media. One of these is to share what you post to Instagram to Facebook and Twitter as well. This makes sense for a business, but not for a personal profile. When using a business profile, it is important to share and represent a company or organization in the same aspect, promoting at the same time, and posting the same pictures. Instagram makes this easy by allowing us to post to our Facebook or Twitter. For personal use in this current generation, most of the pictures used for Instagram would not be found on Facebook. Generation Z tends to use Instagram to promote themselves, as the platform has grown to be able to market products to sell to the younger generation. These products range from cosmetics to healthy shake options. This has led Twitter to become a meme platform or just a comedy platform that can be serious when following the right channels. Facebook now is more used for a p...

Blog Post (Malone)

Image
With Post Malone dropping his latest Album “Hollywood’s Bleeding” I wanted this post to look at some of the songs I see as noteworthy on this album. Overall the album is best listened to when listening to it from the first track to the last while skipping none of the songs. The album has a tone to it where each song ties to the next. The album is his third studio album and Spotify states that he is the fifth most listened to artist in the world at this moment. The first song that shows importance is “Hollywood’s Bleeding” the song portrays all the life being sucked out of the area of Hollywood. The song has an array of vocals, a strong sense of rhythm and stimulates the listener to hear the song as a cry to wake up. This song is the first on the album and sets the stage for the rest of the album. The songs to follow use a similar approach to the melody, and tempo. This song is the pacesetter. “Enemies” is another noteworthy track on this album due to the lyrics “Friends are like the ...

Spotify: Social Media or just Music?

Looking at a very unique social media platform, Spotify , we can see unique traits that make this a platform in the digital world, while flipping the entire music industry onto its head. This platform does not let users necessarily post on a wall, but allows you to connect into Instagram and Facebook accounts to share what music the individual is currently listening to. What Spotify does allow the user to do is follow friends for easier sharing of playlists, new artist, or songs in general. The platform allows users to follow their favorite artists or groups and receive notifications when they release something new.  While this is not like most social media platforms, I find that it still meets the basics a platform needs to have. These I have found to be the ability to follow other users, a way to express yourself. Through Spotify, this means creating a playlist that are tailored to the listener and sharing this specific playlist with their friends or following a certain playlis...

Chapters 7/8

In Chapters 7 and 8 the book “The Art of Social Media” discussed ways to obtain more followers and a consistent base of readers throughout social media platforms. This intrigued me with companies like Isagenix who use social media to gain new customers, new associates and promote their products through their influencers. One of my buddies is a representative for Isagenix and has tried to get me signed up plenty of times before. Isagenix is a company that focuses on body image and promotes healthy lifestyles through its shakes, challenges, and different types of diet recommendations. The friends who have tried to get me to join has earned up to $13,000 from one of the challenges the company sponsors. He gains followers by continuously posting about his success, links his Instagram and Facebook to each other allowing him to easily find new potential members for Isagenix products. Using multiple platforms to direct new followers to one has proven effective for him and has allowed him to p...

Zach's and Google Calendars

Let’s talk a little more about me. I love music, I love to cycle, I work for a company called Rowmark where we make large plastic sheets and customizable signage. I have been an intern here for the past year being exactly 381 days. Currently, I work half days working in total about 24 hours a week then working on academic work throughout the evening. This can create a stressful time and environment. A huge strategy that I have used in the past year has been going to the counseling center here at Ohio Northern (ONU) to just talk to someone about how I am feeling and receive any new tips on what I can do to continue succeeding throughout my academic career. Some tips that my counselor has shared with me is to spend time without electronics, just to have a moment to breathe. I usually try to do this between work and before evening work begins. Another item that I have been using is Google calendars to help me stay on top of homework assignments. With this application, I am able to create ...

Snapchat's Evolution

This week on Zach talks about social media lets dip into Snapchat. Snapchat was founded back in 2012 and has seen a variety of changes both for the better and the worse. One update that Snapchat created was a way to send your friends money through the app. Luckily this was not a super popular addition to the platform. Popular features to this platform have been the addition of stories, being able to chat with someone without having to send a picture, being able to put multiple friends into a group to talk to everyone at once, the addition of filters to images, and finally the development of SnapMaps. When this function was released rumors circled about who would be able to see who on this map, how accurate the map would be if the user could set restrictions on who may see their location or what they are doing. This feature was introduced with instructions on how to effectively use this feature showing the user that this update still keeps Snapchat simple and fun to use for Millennials ...

Social Media Rants

Something that has always irked me on Social Media Platforms are those giveaways that accounts create. When accounts offer to give money to someone who likes and retweets a certain tweet they can have a shot at earning the money. Simple right? Nope, you always have to follow the person doing this “giveaway.” the claim is that if you aren’t following the person doing this event, they will not be able to contact you to deliver your prize. For the most part, this is not accurate. Profiles can request to direct message anybody from twitter, the receiver from the request then chooses to accept or decline this request. In a “giveaway” the sole purpose is for an account to gain a bunch of followers to achieve a twitter famous status. After these events end I have seen a handful of accounts actually change their profiles to a different name, twitter handle, profile pictures, and cover photos. The takeaway from this entire blog is that the majority of giveaway events on Twitter, Instagram, or F...

Beautiful Mind Records

Welcome to the more random posts on my blog. These uploads can range from new music finds that I think the readers should listen to through items that are just absolutely random. This is just how my mind works, and processes information, so buckle up cause this could be a rollercoaster. This blog will focus on musical talents and how the music industry works. Artists like Ariana Grande, Drake, Jon Bellion, Logic, etc… all work for a music label. Some of these artists venture out to create their own labels to assist other rising artists. One example of this happening is with Jon Bellion. This is my favorite musical artist to listen to, the rhythm and style of his albums are never the same and in interviews, he has stated that he would rather make music that spoke to the audience, rather than following the classic four-chord structure that allows a song to become a hit. Artists like Jon Bellion have opened a door for rising groups like Lawrence the Band. Jon used his own label, Beautiful...

Chapters 1 & 2

Image
In the chapters that we discussed today, author Guy Kawasaki states that our profile pictures for all social media accounts we possess should be the same. As stated in the book “The Art of Social Media Power: Power Tips for Power Users ” using the same profile picture creates a straight-forward process for people to find you on various platforms. Now, after thinking about this statement, I can agree with Kawasaki but think it is most appropriate to only do this for certain platforms. For example, my personal Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn profiles are all unique for their platform. I do not post anything that I would not like for a future employer to find or anything that would bring the question to the character I present in my pictures. A different profile picture could be used when someone may not want their Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn account to be found. Having separate profile pictures for an individual's separate account may be purposeful and may prove tha...
